Friend 2 Friend On the Road

Erin and I...the consummate tourists

Greetings!

Well, we have had some fun adventures in the last few weeks with trips both North and South of Calgary – Eckville and Lethbridge to be exact.

Community Presentations, Puppet Shows and Sim Games, Oh MY!

In the 3 days we spent in Lethbridge, Christine got lots of practice with Mae, Erin got lots of practice with Roger (and a debut as lead presenter!) and Candace did her first ever community presentation. It was such a treat to see all the great folks at Chinook Autism Society again and to meet the kids and teachers at Mike Mountain Horse School and Coalhurst Elementary. Thankfully, we had lots of puppets and other equipment to weigh us down on our trip back to Calgary. Gale force winds caused a lot of damage in Southern Alberta and we counted no less than 9 semi-trailers in the ditches on highway 2!

Eckville was a short, one-day adventure with MC at the wheel. She had “road trip” written all over her and was glad to be playing with puppets again since she had to miss out on the Lethbridge fun.

The kids and teachers at Eckville Elementary were so engaged and welcoming. We only wish we could have spent one more day in that beautiful, little town.

Thanks again to those communities in Alberta who invite us in to share our message of inclusion and friendship. It is a real honour to know that the work we do is appreciated and valued but it is even more awesome to think that the kids will be practicing the 7 friendship tips in the days, weeks and months to come with their own families and the new friends they’ve made!
