The Government of Alberta’s Child Care webpage has helpful information for parents about childcare subsidies, finding care and more. Below are a few resources, this is not an exhaustive list of resources or supports.

Find a childcare center or dayhome in your local area using the Alberta Child Care Lookup Tool. If you need help finding childcare after trying the Alberta Child Care Lookup Tool, you can call the Government of Alberta’s Child Care Connect team at 1-844-644-5165. The Child Care Connect team can also help if you have concerns about the care provided in a licensed setting & if you would like to speak with a Childcare Licensing Officer in Calgary. If you need aide to support your child in a licensed childcare setting for ‘work-related’ care, you may request funding from Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD).


Alberta Childcare Lookup Tool

The Alberta childcare lookup tool is an online resource list of registered childcare settings. The list includes registered daycares, day homes, out of school care and more.

Child Care Connect

Child Care Connect is a FREE resource for parents & can assist with finding appropriate childcare settings and more;

help you learn about child care options in your area get help finding the licensed child care program in your community that works best for your family find out if your unlicensed provider has been issued an order to stop providing child care within the past 24 months report concerns, complaints or incidents related to a child care program, including those related to optional services and supplementary fees

Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD Funding Support for Childcare)

Family Support for Children with Disabilities may provide funding to assist with the extraordinary costs associated with a child’s care and supervision needs. This funding is only intended for ‘work-related’ childcare, this means the parent must be attending work or an educational setting. Families need to specifically speak with your FSCD caseworker and request funding for an aide in the childcare setting. This funding can be for supports such as;

  • Child care support – children under the age of 13 years
  • Child care support – children 13 years of age and older
  • Aide in a child care facility
  • Additional space in a family day home
  • Aide in day care for developmental purposes

Inclusive Child Care (ICC)

The inclusive child care is a FREE program for licensed childcare providers to access help building their skills to care for children with extraordinary needs. The program is focused on building skills for educators that:

  • Help build capacity and confidence to support children with a diverse range of needs
  • Improve resilience and protective factors for children in the early years
  • Support the inclusion and developmental needs of all children
  • Support best practice strategies for inclusive practices in early education
  • Support the application of trauma informed best practices
  • Enhance knowledge and navigation of available support systems
