AMA Accommodated Driver Training
AMA offers special accommodations for drivers with disabilities and driving anxiety. They work with you and your healthcare professional to determine how they can modify their vehicles or training process to serve you better. They offer free assessments to determine any accommodations you may need, and adjust the pace of learning to fit individual needs.
Calgary Transit Access (CTA)
Offers door to door transportation to those who cannot take public transit due to their disability (safety, sensory dysregulation etc). Their transportation is the same cost as a typical bus pass or ticket and the transportation is provided in a taxi cab or a shuttle bus, both of which may have other passengers on it so that means there are multiple stops before each rider reaches their destination. There is an application with a doctors section that needs to be filled out. CTA does not provide rides to Calgary public schools
Execeptional Abilities Adapted Learn to Drive Program
This program is designed to help neurodiverse learners gain the skills, confidence, and independence needed to become safe and successful drivers. They work on bridging the gap in educational services for students with learning challenges and giftedness, providing comprehensive support beyond traditional tutoring alongside our professional team of education and consultants, who bring over 20 years of experience in specialized education, ensuring that individuals with diverse learning needs receive the guidance and resources necessary for success
Learning Disabilities Association of Alberta
Offers two ways to purchase a Learners Prep Kit. STUDY CARDS You can pick up a Learners Licence Prep Kit at almost every Alberta Registry. Phone/Tablet APP – You can purchase the Learners Prep Kit App from the Apple and Google Play stores and study for the Alberta Learners Test
Travel Training – Calgary Transit Access
Travel training is short-term, hands-on instruction designed to teach people with disabilities to travel safely and independently on public transportation. The program provides individuals with the tools and confidence they need to use Calgary Transit services on their own. Whether youre learning to navigate routes, understand fare systems, or use accessibility features, our Travel Trainers are here to help.
