Calgary Alternative Employment Service (CAES):  Assists job-seekers to overcome barriers, understand workplace culture and fill the personnel needs of inclusive employers in Calgary. CAES works with each client to identify their ideal work setting and employment support needs. Job interviews and employment placement are facilitated in accordance with the client’s goals. We then provide ongoing follow-up support to both the client and the employer in order to strengthen their skills and working relationship as well as ensure job satisfaction and retention.

EmploymentWorks Program: Offers employment preparedness training and support, combined with job sampling and hands-on experience to autistic adults and persons with disabilities. The program is designed for individuals at least 15 years of age who want to enter or return to the workforce, and who are willing to develop and practice the skills needed to support employment success.

Potential Place: A clubhouse for individuals with a mental health concern. The clubhouse offers employability skills, workplace training and a safe social setting for members.

Play In The Sun Inc.: Provides a University model for children, youth, young adults and/or professionals in career transitions. Their program emphasizes individualized learning through a combination of in-person and online methods. Play in the Sun Inc serves the community by promoting a balanced approach to education, encompassing technology, outdoor activities. Providing therapy supports (OT/BC/Therapy Assistants and Respite as well as community aides.

Housing

 

Abilities in Motion Support Services: AIMSS provide care for adults with disabilities, seniors, and complex needs in a range of settings, including full-service organizations, supported living communities, at-home care, supportive roommates, and respite care for family managed and PDD-funded individuals.

Aspires Housing: A group of parents focused on the identification and development of local family-driven housing solutions for their adult children with autism.

 

Community Housing Affordability Collective: The collective engine for improving housing affordability in Calgary through cross-sector collaboration and community-based advocacy.

 

Forward Housing: Offers affordable accommodation and a wide range of service options to encourage social inclusion and community engagement for the needs of low-income seniors, adults and small families. **Forward Housing and Horizon Housing have merged, updated branding hasn’t been released yet, and are operating largely as before. Horizon Housing: Provides affordable, integrated and supported homes to tenants with a variety of special needs including individuals living with mental health challenges, physical disabilities, families and seniors living below the poverty line, and the working poor. Need a referral by a partnering agency to access. **Forward Housing and Horizon Housing have merged, updated branding hasn’t been released yet, and are operating largely as before. The Mustard Seed: Provides basic services (shelter, food and clothing) and support services (including employment, health and wellness, and spiritual care), as well as housing for those in need.

 

Supported Living Accommodations Listings (Government of Alberta): Listings of supported accommodations in the Calgary area.

 

Universal Rehabilitation Service Agency (URSA): Their Residential Services program offers assisted-living groups homes for people 18 and older with developmental disabilities, with options for both long-term residence and short-term respite. This program is intended for those who require partial to total assistance with activities of daily living, and also has additional supports for those transitioning from the child healthcare system to the adult system.
