Autism Society Canada Annouces Amalgamation

It is with great pleasure we announce the amalgamation of Autism Society Canada (established in 1976) and Autism Canada Foundation (established in 2002).  This amalgamation brings together two of Canada’s largest, leading autism organizations to form Autism Canada.  The consolidated organization, including a Provincial and Territorial Council and an Adult Autism Advisory Committee, puts Autism Canada in a position to bring about real change for people living with autism and their families.

While the amalgamation became official at the end of May, we kept it under wraps until we could rebrand and bring our new Board of Directors together to map out our strategic plan.

The amalgamated organization will be known as Autism Canada brandishing the new tag line,
See the Spectrum Differently.
  • See the potential in people living with autism.
  • See and understand behaviour as a form of communication.
  • See and respect the person as an individual first.
  • See the opportunity to work together to make a difference.

This announcement features a heart-warming Public Service Announcement that will run across multi-media platforms including national television, our website and social media.

We have launched a new website with great online resources including:

Autism Canada will continue to provide our Family Support and Resource Program and our annual Conference with live webcast. Reaching every Canadian living and touched by autism continues to be a top priority for the new Autism Canada.

Lastly, on Monday, October 19, you will be going to the polls to elect our new federal leaders.  Prior to casting your vote we need you to engage your candidates to ensure autism is on their political platform.   We have created an “I’m One” Federal Election Campaign to make this as easy as possible.

We invite you to be part of this national movement of grassroots autism organizations and become a Supporting Member.  Let’s rally together to ensure people living with autism and their families have full healthy and happy lives.  We could not do the work we do without you.

Working passionately for the cause,

The Board of Directors and Staff of Autism Canada
