“Movement is food for the brain”
Let your children move, learn and heal with “attention & intention”.

PLAY & CONNECT
Is a Brain-Body Integration Movement program based on Neurodevelopmental movements, combining left and right hemispheres of the brain helping to develop the sensory, nervous and motor systems. They help the brain grow and function at its best, moving easily in any aspect of life.
The Brain-Body Integration Movements (B-BIM) are derived from what babies do in the womb and infancy and they are highly stimulating to the brain. No matter what our age is, doing these movements will literally “wire the brain”. This movements will help to create new nerve connections, and more efficient pathways among existing nerves.

The Brain-Body Integration Movements (B-BIM) in addition to being very calming, the movements are critically important for laying down the neuro-sensory-motor foundations for higher level skills such as language development, social interaction and learning.
The neuro-sensory-motor foundation can have gaps, from mild to severe. These gaps exist from womb and infant life or from trauma or injuries later in life. With Brain-Body Integration Movement (B-BIM), we can bridge these gaps and create more ease and effectiveness in all realms of life.

The motor systems also develop for proper head control, muscle tone, stamina, strength and posture. These basic sensory-motor skills have been called the “foundations for all future learning”.
Our learning, emotional, social, and physical abilities depend on how well the neural pathways in the brain are laid down in infancy.
Play & Connect program is excellent for sensory integration because it calms the nervous system while developing vision, hearing, balance, touch and proprioception. In the other hand, children will practice ways to calm down and relax their body bringing self-esteem and sense of space and being present, discovering and excelling their abilities in many different aspects, bringing more “options” and “possibilities” in their daily life. Even to enjoy eating veggies or sitting still.
Play & Connect also give us the movements that help to provide a second chance to rebuild the foundations of brain-body health and feeling happy!
Often used to help with:
Learning & Developmental Challenges:
 ADD/ADHD-hyperactivity  Sensory Processing Disorders (SPD)  Autism/Aspergers (ASD)  Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia  Developmental & Speech Delay  Auditory processing disorder
Emotional & Physical Challenges:
 Anxiety, Fears & Phobias  Behavior Challenges  Sleep Disorders  Depression  Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)  Parkinson’s Disease

The ability to be still is actually an advanced skill requiring a certain degree of brain maturity. Usually the reason a child cannot be still is due to a lack of brain maturity. Neurodevelopmental Movement provides the proper kinds of movement to develop maturity in the basal ganglia of the brain, which is responsible for the ability to be “still”.

There are many reasons why the reflex system may not develop properly.
When the reflex movements are underdeveloped or incomplete by the end of early childhood, it causes challenges, from mild to severe, in learning, development, emotions and behavior.

How the program works?
Through gentle body movements. Some of this movements may involve light touch, and for younger children, many of the movements can be done playfully in the floor, sitting, crawling, or even beside their desk at school or at home first thing in the morning or before going to bed or even while sleeping. It all depends on the goal, the time and the place where we are doing the exercises. We also use few other techniques during the class like dance, arts & crafts, games, balls, sand bags, meditation, balance boards and sound healing helping children to connect with themselves.
Many people are familiar with the idea that crawling in infancy is important for future learning. There are also many other movement patterns, beginning in the womb, that are important for future learning, emotional and social skills. Using these natural movements is deeply nourishing for the brain.
Benefits:
Helps to increase functioning in the following areas:
 Self-Esteem  Attention  Impulse control  Emotional Maturity  Sensory Processing
 Visual Skills  Speech and Language Development  Brain Connectivity  Physical Strength and Stamina  Creativity

Who is involved during the program?
There is an instructor who is directing the activities and depending of the size and goals of the group there might be the participation of parents, aids or teachers and tutors.

As part of Play & Connect program this is important to get parents or tutors involved in one way or another (not obligatory but highly recommended) not only to know what the program is about but also to make changes as a family, helping with communication, connection and healing process.

The classes are based on specific goals following the structure of the program, using different materials. But we are open to follow the children’s lead as this is important to work on a nice, calm environment where kids feel welcome, a sense of belonging, able to communicate their feelings, making friends and learning about themselves and how to cope with changes and regular daily situations.
