We are currently seeking a part time Communications Coordinator.
Autism Calgary and Autism Society Alberta is excited to expand our team! We are looking for a creative and passionate individual who enjoys collaborating with others and making a difference in the community to help us part time for a 6-8 month period.
As the provincial voice, Autism Society Alberta addresses the common goals of the autism community by leveraging its networks and resources to gather information, mobilize awareness, promote effective collaboration amongst all stakeholders and take focused action to ensure the lifespan needs of the autism community are met. Autism Calgary is the grassroots association of individuals and families living with ASD in Calgary.
Description of Role and Duties
● This role will be serving within Autism Alberta’s Community Relations team with their Calgary based needs, reporting to Autism Alberta’s Community Relations Manager and Autism Calgary’s team
● Support the development and execution of a local social media plan to promote Autism Calgary’s and Autism Society Alberta’s activities
● Produce communications materials including blogs, website updates, e-newsletters and email campaigns
● Monitor success of website/social media through analytical tools
● Attend regular staff meetings to address organizational issues and collaborate on initiatives
● Ensure timely submission of all monthly reports
● Perform other duties as required
Requirements for the Role
• Post-secondary education or equivalent training in communications or public relations.
• Experience running social media campaigns and with using and analyzing a wide variety of social media platforms.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Understanding, acceptance and respect for the diverse views and perspectives is important.
• Familiarity with autism and disability related services in Alberta is a strong asset.
• Familiarity and comfort working with a computer, including MS Office Products.
• Access to a home office/work space and a reliable internet connection.
• Must be able to work well independently in a self-directed manner and contribute/coordinate
• Must work well with a team and be willing to pitch in and help with duties and projects outside of the normal duties, where needed
• Good time management and the ability to juggle multiple projects/duties at once is vital.
The contract is temporary (6-8 month period) with the possibility of extension based on funding. Hourly wage commensurate with experience and education.
Begins: To be determined, Approximately 20 hours per week
