On March 10th, the Calgary Jewish Federation is hosting a public event followed by workshops with Ms. Elaine Hall, known as “the child whisperer” by The New York Times. Two weeks earlier, on February 27 we are hosting a screening of her documentary film Autism: The Musical, which features the work of Ms. Hall. All events are free of charge and open to everyone.
Elaine was a top Hollywood children’s acting coach whose life changed dramatically after her son Neal, adopted from a Russian orphanage, was diagnosed with autism. She created The Miracle Project, a theatre and film social skills program, profiled in the Emmy winning HBO documentary, Autism: The Musical. A media personality, she has appeared on CNN, CBS, Oprah Radio, and featured in The LA Times, New York Times and Wall Street Journal.
She is an international keynote speaker, workshop leader, inclusion activist, and blogger for the Huffington Post. Her memoir, Now I See the Moon, was chosen for World Autism Awareness Day at The United Nations where she has spoken several times. Now I See the Moon was recently selected as suggested reading for International Jewish Disability Awareness Month 2013.
Creator and director of an arts enrichment and Bar/Bat Mitzvah and religious education program in West Los Angeles, Hall, who is based in Santa Monica, California, was recently nominated as one of Los Angeles’ 50 most inspiring women. This past summer she spoke at an international conference in Jerusalem where she discussed her most recent book, Seven Keys to Unlock Autism: Creating Miracles in the Classroom.
